Soy-Yer Dough

Bloomfield native Sawyer Sparks developed Soy-Yer Dough, when he was a freshman in college. At this time, the dough was far from the product it is today! The dough was cooked, packaged and shipped from his parents house just north of Bloomfield. After a long road of research and development, Soy-Yer Dough, was featured in the New York Times as one of the most innovative ideas by college students. Sawyer, at this point, didn't know what the demand for the product was, since he was still in the research stages of the product. He then, within the next month, developed a webpage for easy access to purchasing Soy-Yer Dough. He also vamped up a manufacturing center in his mom's kitchen. For the next year, the business flourished through online sales and local support. Sawyer's mother and he continued to fill orders through her kitchen.

In 2009, Sawyer really wanted his business to grow where he knew it was capable of growing. So, he decided to pitch his product idea on the national TV show ABCs Shark Tank. He successfully pitched his soy-based molding dough product and got a deal. Sparks' message to the sharks was straight forward, he wants to open a manufacturing facility in Greene County for his Soy-Yer Dough product. After he got an offer from one of the sharks, he went out and called his fiance, Sammie. She spoke to Sawyer about the many employees that they had just hired. Most of them were without jobs at the time and really in need of a paycheck. Sawyer realized how important a deal was going to be in order to ensure that those jobs were going to be there for those employees. Sparks left the Shark Tank with a deal.

After the Shark Tank, thanks to the support of Sawyer's family and community, Sawyer, was finally capable of moving out of his moms kitchen into a real manufacturing facility in Bloomfield, Indiana. Sawyer is finally seeing his dreams construct into realities, one baby step at a time. Soy-Yer dough has been sold to every state in the US and many countries internationally. With hundreds of retailers, Soy-Yer Dough has been able to reach hundreds of thousands of customers. Soy-Yer dough plans to continue to develop and thrive to produce new innovative products of high value for their customer.
